Dr. Laura Beraha will return to hosting a classical music radio show, on KMZT 105.1  Monday, August 29th in the noon - 5pm slot, Monday - Friday.  We congratulate her on an excellent choice for our benefit!

Dr. Laura originally began hosting Classical Music on the radio in January 1993. Her return almost 30 years later was detailed in an article by RadioInk :  Classical Clash In L.A. - Radio Ink.   However, it mistakenly identifies MountWilson FM owner Saul Levine as a station manager when they cite his enthusiasm for Dr. Laura's expertise and return to hosting a radio show: "the move is to put the station in direct competition with cross town rival KUSC-FM."

Dr. Laura is a very talented person. She has a doctorate in music, is a professional artist and an accomplished voice-over artist. Her awards are cited  on Fancyclopedia. Laura Brodian Freas - Fancyclopedia 3.  While her social media bio summarizes it all as:

  • Former Arts Reporter at KUSC-FM
  • Former Classical Music Radio Program Host at Mount Wilson FM Broadcasters
  • Studied Music education. Masters and doctoral degrees. at Indiana University (Bloomington)
  • Studied Music Education-Vocal General/Piano/Music History at Indiana University
  • Costumer, English Regency Dance Instructor,

Her appreciation of classical music extends into a love and participation in historical dancing and costumes. She is the founder and active member of the Valley Area English Regency Society as a sister group to the Bay Area English Regency Society BAERS which she founded in 1984.  The VAERS suggests we

"Escape the stresses of everyday living. Let's all party like it's 1799."

It should be noted that in 1989 when KFAC was sold and no longer broadcast as a classical station, all of its inventory was sold to the highest bidder to KUSC, Los Angeles Library, and Stanford University KFAC Parcels Out Classical Library - Newspapers.com     KFAC began as a classical station in 1945 as 1330 AM and in 1959 as 92.3 FM.

The classical radio station is owned by Mount Wilson FM Broadcaster. The FM call numbers for its stations include KMZT AM 1260 studios are located in Westwood but their transmitter is located in Mission Hills.

  • Go Country 105
