Will Emmanuel Haro Tragedy Repeat Media Speculations of JonBenet Ramsey?

JonBenet Ramsey's 1996 Christmas morning kidnaping, held headlines for 7 years by competitive journalists. Today popularity drives online theories about Emmanuel Haro's fate.

The tight-lipped response by San Bernardino law enforcement coupled with the parent(s) of Emmanuel Haro securing an attorney only adds to the furor, competition, and speculation of social media pundits as to what happened to 8-month-old Emmanuel Haro. BUT interestingly enough the news reporting by online pundits may also repeat or be tied to events in the early 2000's when "mommy-bloggers" were gaining momentum.

The timeline no longer begins with the incident at the parking lot of the Big 5 Sporting Goods store.   Online pundits have moved the attention and timeline to:

  • August 5th
    • A clandestine video taken by an attendee at funeral held for Charley Richard Beushausen, a relative of Emmanuel's mother Rebecca Haro (nee Beushausen).
    • Speculators (wrongly) assert the video shows Rebecca had face bruising, covered by make-up
    • The person who released the video reveals 8-month-old Emmanuel was not there but his 2-year old sister was present.  Which does not prove anything one-way or another.
    • Speculators ghoulishly assert Emmanuel was buried with his relative.

However, the incident was reported by the parents as occurring the evening of August 14th when the couple went public with a story of an assault on the mother while she changed the diaper of Emmanuel.  The father had remained with the other children at a local community game.  Rebecca Haro is reported to be 41 years old. Her husband, Jake Michael Haro, is 32 years old.

  •  Rebecca speaks to ABC7 news reporter and says on August 14th evening
    • She was assaulted from behind and rendered unconscious while changing the diaper of Emmanuel in the parking lot of Big 5 Sporting goods
    • She did not see her assailant but heard a voice say "hola"
    • She attributes her black eye to the assault.  Note: the news video shows a left eye bruised but ALSO a closer look at images reveals a lighter bruising below her right eye.
  • Jake Haro's public record of arrest and conviction for a previous assault on his child (from a different mother) has now surfaced and is fueling online speculation. No information accompanies those online reports as to the status and health of the child today or a comment from the mother.
  • Rebecca Haro's brother was involved in the investigation of his girlfriend's death by suicide. Speculation now links the incident.
  • Rebecca Haro's ex-husband has spoken to online speculators, under the condition of anonymity. He relates they were married for 11 years and dated for 15 years. Their two children are over 18 years of age now and he has not had communication with her.
  • There is a Rebeccah Beushausen, who in 2009 in Chicago, was exposed for soliciting reactions based on losing an infant child as a single mother. Inside the scandal-ridden decline of the ORIGINAL mommy blogging stars | Daily Mail Online
    • From the Chicago Tribune "Rebeccah Beushausen, from Chicago, claimed she was an unmarried mother who chose to carry her terminally ill child to term rather than have an abortion because of her deep faith"

It is this last citation, given the uniqueness of the last name, which would suggest caution for any speculation that ignores the possibility Emmanuel died a natural or accidental death from which Rebecca cannot reconcile the events.

The JonBenet Ramsey kidnapping occurred Christmas morning in 1996.  There was no social-media, online bloggers, and most news was presented by way of television and radio. By the time her body was discovered, seven-years later,  and DNA tests were conducted,

"In 2003, trace DNA taken from JonBenét's clothes was found to belong to an unknown male

each member of the family had been villainized, even her older brother who was nine-years old at the time of the tragic kidnapping and murder of six-year old JonBenet.  Fueling the speculation were those grasping a headline or book contract, magazine article, or  cable-television feature story. By 2003 those who had joined online blogging were using the story as a jumpstart for popularity.   It should be noted that as an adult JonBenet's brother sued CBS for $750 million dollars for their prime-time special which hinted and laid claims he was the purportrator.  CBS settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.
