The California Coastal Commission was established thru a ballot initiative, Proposition 20, in 1972 which led to the passage of the Coastal Act in 1976. A downloadable 194 page PDF is available with all the revisions. The full CCC History is detailed on their website along with the video "To Save Our Coast: Proposition 20 and the Creation of the Coastal Commission a full-length documentary on the historic 1972 campaign to pass the Coastal Initiative, told from the perspective of many of the people who made it happen."

The meetings in Los Angeles/Orange Country are scheduled for May 13-15th 2026 and December 9-11th, 2026. The location has not been detailed, but 2025 meetings for the South District were held in Calabasas, Long Beach, and Redondo Beach.
