The Sandy Fire remains in Simi, Ventura County. The Kardashians live in Calabasas which is Los Angeles County. While Brittany Spears lives in Thousand Oaks she is nowhere near the Sandy fire. Evacuation orders for both celebrities were warnings and not mandatory. They are based on the fact wind speed and direction can shift the fire at a moments notice, as happened with the Woolsey Fire in 2018 when it was jumping back and forth across the 101 freeway and then back thru Agoura/Calabasas over a period of hours, the Ventura County Fire crew along with aid from the State and Los Angeles County have held the spread to under 3000 acres over the past four days.
The Woolsey Fire threatened much of Calabasas all the way to the Coast. It began November 8 and was contained almost two weeks later on November 21. 1,643 structures were destroyed across 96,949 acres (39,234 hectares).
