California Achieving a Better Life Experience (CalABLE)
California Achieving a Better Life Experience (CalABLE) is a new State Board, tasked with administering an investment tool that will allow people with disabilities to establish a tax-advantaged ABLE account that allows them to save up to $14,000 (currently) per year and up to $475,000 in total without losing vital public state means- tested benefits and up to $100,000 without losing SSI. For California families, Trump Accounts won't replace existing state programs—they will complement them. Through the State Treasurer’s Office’s Financial Security for All portfolio, California is leading the nation in helping children build assets from birth through adulthood. Programs like CalKIDS, the HOPE Trust Account Program, ScholarShare 529, CalABLE, and CalSavers are designed to work together to strengthen financial security and expand access to wealth-building opportunities.
