Only eight different nations have won the FIFA World Cup.
Brazil, England, West Germany, Argentina, Italy, France, Spain, Germany

• Brazil has won five times: 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, 2002.
• Italy has won four times 1934, 1938, 1982, 2006
• Argentina has won three times 1978, 1986, 2022
• France has won twice 1998, 2018
• Uruguay has won twice 1930, 1950
• West Germany has won twice 1954, 1974

Each of the remaining four teams have won at least once.

• Spain has had only one prior win, in 2010, and will play against France with two prior wins. Their match is scheduled for July 14th, Tuesday, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas at 12pm pst.
• England has had only one prior win, in 1966 when they hosted the games.  They will play against Argentina with three prior wins. Their match is scheduled for July 15th, Wednesday, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia at 12pm pst.

Eighteen different countries have hosted the twenty-three events, which occur every four years, from 1930 - 2026 (No FIFA World Cup games were held in 1942 and 1946 due to WWII)

• Uruguay in 1930, the first time it was held.
• Italy in 1934
• England in 1966
• West Germany in 1974.
• Argentina in 1978
• France in 1998

• Three countries have solo hosted the FIFA twice
  Brazil (1950 & 2014)
  France (1938 & 1998)
  Italy (1934 & 1990
• Mexico solo hosted the event twice (1970 & 1986) and then joined with USA & Canada in 2027
• The U.S. hosted the event in 1994 and then joined with Canada & Mexico in 2026
