National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States

The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (also known as the 9-11 Commission), an independent, bipartisan commission created by congressional legislation and the signature of President George W. Bush in late 2002, is chartered to prepare a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, including preparedness for and the immediate response to the attacks. The Commission is also mandated to provide recommendations designed to guard against future attacks.

The Commission has released its final report, available below in PDF format. The report is also available in bookstores nationwide and from the Government Printing Office.

Memorandums for the Record (MFR)
During its investigation, the Commission staff conducted over 1200 fact-finding interviews-the MFRs are summaries of these interviews. This series is available online.

An entire generation exists now who were born after 9/11/01; when 2,997 people were killed, across three locations. Remembrances for family and community reinforce the value of life.

The palpability of death which hung, for years, over each site of the devastation has waned. Perhaps the many prayers said and solemn memorials since erected may have quelled some of the unmistaken grief when you approached any of the sites.
