Revisiting Comments 25 Years After 9/11/01 - Part 30

Social Media platforms we depend on today were non-existent on 9/11/01 even the Secret Service did not have a registered website until December 2001.

Only blogging and messenger platforms existed for the general public on 9/11/01. The three major networks maintained a strong presence for news by most people utilizing their television. 

CNN was established in 1980 and had a large share of the news market and political coverage because of their 24-hour format. 

Similarly, CSPAN, established in 1970, had the attention of the public for legislative news and Washington DC.

2001-12-06 - The dedicated website for the Secret Service is now registered by the Department of Homeland Security. Curiously the DHS was first established as Office of Homeland Security (OHS) in October 2001 by President Bush. It became the DHS in 2003 and now has  240,000+ employees.
