California Citizens Compensation Commission

Proposition 112, passed by voters in June 1990, established the Commission to set the salaries and medical, dental, insurance and other similar benefits of Members of the Legislature and the State's other elected officials. Proposition 1F, passed by voters in May 2009, prevents the Commission from increasing elected officials' salaries during budget deficit years. The Commission has seven members, appointed by the Governor for six-year terms.  CCCC Benefits - CalHR Website

  • Tyren Thompson holds the “compensation expert” seat. Thompson is currently a Compensation Partner at Zoom Video Communications, and has also worked in Compensation roles at interactive entertainment company Activision Blizzard, and fashion retail giant Forever 21
  • Ruben Esparza Jr. holds the “labor” seat. Esparza has served in various roles at the City of Modesto Fire Department since 2003, including Battalion Chief, Fire Captain and Firefighter.
