The theme of the 2022 Small Business Week is “Building a Better America through Entrepreneurship”

A small business starts with an idea, an improvement upon existing opportunities and products, and is infused by friends and family support....hopefully.

Maybe your small business idea is percolating; whether it is a restaurant, food truck, bed and breakfast, a product to make life easier or safer in the kitchen, or even helping others to promote their business. And maybe just maybe you need a boost of confidence or a "kickstart":

The Kikkoman family introduced their product to America in 1957, after hundreds of thousands of military veterans had come home with more familiarity to international foods and flavors. Now soy sauce is not exclusively used in Asian kitchens or restaurants; it along with teriyaki sauce is a condiment and flavor on the summer barbeque menu in a variety of meats and recipes.

Soy sauce is made from just four simple ingredients—water, soybeans, wheat and salt. Those ingredients are transformed through the magic of fermentation, much like the way wine and beer are made. And this traditional brewing process has remained unchanged for centuries.

According to the Kikkoman "about us" page of their website:

Soy sauce is one of the world’s oldest seasonings and condiments, dating back more than 2,000 years. Over the centuries, it found its way to Japan, where the traditional fermentation process was refined and perfected to create shoyu, the rich flavorful seasoning we know as soy sauce today.

It was there that Kikkoman’s story began more than three centuries ago. In the mid-1600s, a resourceful family set up a brewery in the farming community of Noda along the Edo river, not far from present-day Tokyo.

And today, nearly twenty generations later, their descendants still run what has become the world’s leading soy sauce brand.
