A wildflower indigenous to the continent are called “natives".

Uncultivated? This basically negates the bulk seed packets for "wildflowers"!!!  Nevertheless, if you do want to plant a whole lotta pretty flowers here is our previous link to garden centers.

O'Melveney Park

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve

Due to only receiving .8 inches of rain since December, this year's bloom was short. A few poppies and other small wildflowers can still be found on the north-facing slopes and trails, but most have gone to seed. The park is still pleasant with no crowds, and the Jane S. Pinheiro Visitor Center is open through May 8th

Hours: The park is open from sunrise to sunset daily year-round.


Parking Fees: Exact change appreciated. Visa and Mastercard accepted. $10 per vehicle

$9 per vehicle with a senior on board (62 and over)

$5 per vehicle with DPR Disabled Discount Card (see below)

Small busses (9-24 passengers): 

$50Large busses (25 or more passengers): $100
