Regional Candidate Filing Opens for 2023 Neighborhood Council Elections

Neighborhood Council Elections will be conducted on a rolling regional basis, starting with Region 11 on March 26th. San Fernando Valley Regions 1-4 elections are June 3, 10, 18, 22.

Candidate Filing Dates: November 26, 2022 – April 8, 2023

  • There are 99 Neighborhood Councils.
  • Neighborhood Councils are clustered to form 12 election regions.
  • Each region has its own candidate and voter filing periods and unique Election Day. NC Election Timeline by Regions 
  • The system was created to connect LA’s diverse communities to City Hall and was established in 1999 by an amendment to the City Charter. 
  • Neighborhood Council board members are volunteers
  • Neighborhood Council board members are public officials elected to office by the members of their community.

The first election is Region 11, scheduled for March 26, 2023.  The Region 11 communities are:  

Bel Air-Beverly Crest, Del Rey, Mar Vista, Palms, South Robertson, Venice, West Los Angeles-Sawtelle, Westchester/Playa, Westwood

These NCs use the Selection process to seat their NC Board Members: Chatsworth, Northridge South, and Westside
