Extra Capacity Tags
LA Sanitation and Environment offers extra capacity tags to residents for $2.00 each, sold in packs of 5. A maximum of 25 extra capacity tags may be sold to each household per calendar year.
These extra capacity tags are non-refundable and must be attached to a:
- plastic bag (no heavier than 30 pounds);
- tied bundle of yard trimmings/brush (measuring no more than four feet in length and no heavier than 30 pounds); or
- any non-City-issued 30-gallon container (no heavier than 30 pounds).
If you are using your own 30-gallon container, we will empty it and leave the container. If you want the container taken away as well, place a bag over the container and attach the extra capacity tag to the bag.
Residents failing to attach these Extra Capacity Tags will not have these extra items collected.
Tags may be purchased by visiting the closest LASAN District Office on weekdays from 8:00am to 1:00pm. Make check or money order payable to “City of Los Angeles." Cash is accepted only if you have exact change.

Bulky Item Collection
LA Sanitation & Environment (LASAN) will pick up your large/bulky household items such as mattresses, couches, doors, carpet, toilets, electrical waste and other furniture and items from residents serviced by LASAN.
To remove these bulky items from your curbside, please call the LASAN Customer Care Center at 1-800-773-2489 at least one business day before your regular collection day. Bulky items are collected on the day of your regular refuse collection.
Please have an itemized list of your items ready when calling or submitting your request.You may also send your Bulky Item Collection Service Request by clicking on the Service Request Form
. Please complete the entire Service Request Form and click the Submit button.
FREE BULKY ITEM DROP-OFF
LA Sanitation & Environment will be accepting bulky items at five locations around the City monthly. Furniture, carpet, yard trimmings, shelving, and wood will be accepted.
