They recently celebrated Gwangbok Day / The National Liberation Day of Korea is a public holiday celebrated annually on 15 August in both North Korea and South Korea. It commemorates the day when the Korean Peninsula was liberated by the Allies in 1945 from 35 years of Japanese colonial rule. The day also coincides with the anniversary of the establishment of the South Korean government in 1948.

MOTION (HUTT - HERNANDEZ) relative to a Street Banner Program celebrating the 80th anniversary of the National Liberation Day of Korea for the period of August 15 - September 15, 2025. ALLOCATE $17,670 in the Council District 10 portion of the Council Discretionary Street Furniture Fund No. 43D/50 to Sam's Signs for services relative to the printing and installation of street banners on 62 City poles.
