Wordle is not the only NY Times word game. The Spelling Bee has a writing contest. Create your own Spelling Bee sentence. Winning entries appear in this year’s Puzzle Mania!
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY, open to legal residents of the 50 U.S./D.C. at least 18 years of age, begins at 9:00 a.m. ET on September 29, 2025, and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on October 5, 2025. Subject to Official Rules.
Here are the rules:
Pick seven letters of your choice for a Spelling Bee puzzle, designating one as the center letter. Then, craft a sentence using only words that can be created from those letters.
There are no restrictions on the kind of writing you can submit: It can be a poem, a phrase, a pun or anything else you can think of.
Some normal Spelling Bee rules apply:
The center letter must be included in every word.
Letters can be used more than once in a word.
Other normal Spelling Bee rules are changed:
Words shorter than four letters are allowed.
Contractions and informalities are allowed.
Proper nouns are allowed.
15 of the wittiest and funniest entries, selected by our editors, will be included in this year’s edition of Puzzle Mania. Here are two examples:
