Laurel Canyon Country Store Changes Hands in 2025 and 2026.
Dear Laurel Canyon,
It is me Tommy.
I write to you with verry heavy heart.
Today is a very sad day for me and for our canyon. The Laurel Canyon Country Store has been taken over by new owners. I do not have much information to share. I wish I did. I have asked many times for answers from my partners, but they have shared nothing with me.
The only thing I know for sure is this. At some point in September, there was a transfer of the liquor license that I believe was not done properly. There was no notice posted. I was removed from the corporation, from the store, and from the license. I think I still owm the property.I now have a lawyer, more than one. We will look into all of this. For now, the new owners have come in and told me I am no longer welcome at the store. They asked me to leave. Many longtime employees, people we all know and love, have also lost their jobs.
This is not the Canyon Store we know and love. But please do not worry. I am fighting for the Canyon Store. I care deeply about this place and this people. I will do everything I can. With too much sadness,
Tommy

Tommy opened the store at 2108 Laurel Canyon Blvd in 1982, it's been included in music (a Doors song), and Mama Cass at one time lived in the basement! Canyon Country Store New Owners Force Out Tommy Bina After 44 Years | WEHOonline
An online check of the Liquor License indicates License Details | Alcoholic Beverage Control the original license #120773 was issued April 8th, 1982 to Houshang Maghen as the primary owner with Manoutcher Shamsa, Kamran Nejatbina, and Houshang Maghen as licensee's. It was transferred on September 5th, 2025 to CANYON COUNTRY CORPORATION with the same people from the original license and an addition of stockholders being Eli Bina and Shirley Bina. The President/Officer of the new corporation is now David Manoutcher Shamsa. Houshang Maghen is no longer the primary owner but is listed as Houshang Eddy Maghen a stockholder along with Eli & Shirley Bina, Kamran Nejatbina, and Manoutcher David Shamsa. That license expires August 31, 2026. It is the active license.
So curiously there is no Tommy Bana anywhere, either 1982 or 2025 or 2026.
Then January 21, 2026 a new license was issued to CANYON COUNTRY COUSINS LIQUOR INC. Which consisted of a new group of owners of which none were a part of the September 2025 license! The new group consists of three officers who are also stockholders; Donald Hannoun (CEO) & Brandon Hannoun (CFO). Ryan Rommy Askar (Secretary/Asst Sec). The license is not active but rather pending.
No further information is available clarifying the two transfers, but time will tell the full details.
