Question

Would You Be Willing to "Spend A Day In My Wheels"

Local radio station KLOVE featured a podcast story this week about Alex Johnson of Lebanon, TN.  Five years ago, when Alex was in the fifth grade, he expressed to his father a way to help his classmates understand and experience what he had to deal with every day as a wheelchair user.   This was the beginning of the "Spend A Day in My Wheels" challenge (another similarly named challenge exists in Ireland).

Alex has a rare skeletal disorder which initially left him dependent on a walker and then later a wheelchair by the time he started the first grade.  The father and son partnered with Permobile, to provide the wheelchairs utilized by participants. The social media nomenclature is #spendadayinmywheels  @GoTeamAlex

"Spend a day in a manual TiLite wheelchair doing daily activities at your workplace or school and share your experience– SIMPLE!"

The State Legislators of Tennessee participated in the challenge in February of 2020.
