Red Light, Green Light: Stopping at Amazon Go

Image

The description of an Amazon Go store would lead one to believe only cashless customers are welcome:  "Amazon Go is a new kind of store with no checkout required."

What does "NO CHECKOUT" mean:

  •  It's free?
  •  How & when do I pay?
  • What if I only have cash?

The reality is the process involves "signing in" or "logging in" with your Amazon ID (QWRTY code).  From their whatever you pick up is logged based on the product bar code and then applied to your tally, accounted as a purchase. A final tabulation occurs when you leave, pass through the turnstiles, the electronic gate.

If you were at the Woodland Hills, California, Amazon Go store on Jan 6th, for the 6am early morning grand opening  you would have had a little time to meet Pamela and rec'd the cup pictured.

Pamela is a beautiful person, with an interesting career path, who's stature allows for respect, but her presence and demeanor does not impose anything but a willingness to help.  And it is this helpfulness that lets a cash-only customer know hey can GO into the AMAZON GO store and experience the quick service, variety, and savings.

ICYMI: Starbucks Pickup with Amazon Go is a collaboration between Starbucks and Amazon. While you're enjoying your coffee, pick up a snack from Amazon Go and enjoy it in our lounge.

Amazon Go stores are in California at 9 locations but only Woodland Hills in  the San Fernando Valley.  Amazon.com: Amazon Go
