The Simi Valley Historical Society invites the community to the first annual Simi Valley Apricot Festival on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 11 a.m to 5:00 p.m at Strathearn Historical Park and Museum located at 137 Strathearn Place, Simi Valley, Ca., 93065, west of the Madera Target store.
Admission is $5.00 for adults/children (4 and older). Children 3 and under, the admission is free. Active and retired military with ID free admission. Tickets are available at svhs.ticketleap.com/simi-valley-apricot-festival/
Simi Valley’s Agricultural Industry had a major impact on our community from the 1920’s – 1970’s. On display at Strathearn Park Historical Park will be the Currier Apricot Pitting shed with a history video of the apricot pitting process. This is an original barn moved to Strathearn Historical Park with a variety farm displays and farming equipment.
Throughout the day, there will be entertainment, a Makers Market, arts and crafts vendors featuring apricot themed items for sale, an antique and vintage Car Show, raffles, games and food booths with apricot themed food and drinks.
Included in the day’s events, will be informal docent tours of Historic buildings between 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
There will be historical presentations and exhibits to explore throughout the day.
El Rancho Simi is a State Historical Landmark No. 979. Within this six-acre site, visitors will see elements from three important periods of Simi Valley history: Chumash Indians, Spanish Rancho Era and Pioneer Era.
