About the Event

Celebrate NATIONAL DAY OF THE COWBOY AND COWGIRL with family-friendly fun for guests of all ages. Enjoy trick ropers, cowboy poetry, live music, country line dancing lessons, a film screening, and docent-led tours. Autry members enjoy early access, free admission, and a Member Picnic.

Event Highlights:

  • Live Music and Cowboy Classics by Emily Rose and the Rounders, The Tone Slingers, The Wandering Wranglers, and Michael Sullivan 
  • Urban Saddles horse photo op and grooming workshop 
  • Trick Ropers on the plaza and Lil’ Buckaroo Trick Roping Lessons 
  • Spirit of the West Award presentation 
  • Themed crafts and workshops
  • Los Angeles Cowboy Poetry performance and writing workshop 
  • Interactive Telegraph Workshop—learn morse code!
  • Themed Docent-led tours: Firearms, Women of the West, Cowgirls & Cowboys, Museum Highlights, and Life, Liberty, and Los Angeles
  • Old West Card Games with Pico Pistolero 
  • Annie Oakley short film and curator-led discussion in the Autry Theatre 
  • Country Line Dancing lessons on the plaza Member Picnic with petting zoo and lawn games
  • Food Trucks and Full Bar 
  • Trunk Show featuring local Western artists in the museum store 
  • Evening Film Screening on the lawn by Street Food Cinema (Free for Autry members with registration)

Admission: EARLY BIRD PRICING!  Prices Increase July 11.

  • Members enjoy a petting zoo, special activities for kids, and live music. 
  • Members may bring their own picnic or buy a lunch via food trucks. 
  • Complimentary lemonade and water will be provided.

6 p.m.−10 p.m. Street Food Cinema presents Night at the Museum (Separate Registration Required)
