The City of Altadena is part of Unincorporated Los Angeles County with these statistics from the LA County Almanac:

It should be noted the City of Los Angeles covers an area of

  • Approximately 321,000 acres
  • 502.7 square miles, equivalent to 1,302 km2

Saturday 1/11/25:

Todd Hopkins from the Unified IC Cal Fire Incident Management Team clarified the statistic citing structures destroyed. "Approximately 5,316 structures have been destroyed. Please, what I want you to remember is that structures does not mean homes. Structures can be

Elsewhere, it is reported 1,500 firefighters were assigned to the Eaton and Palisades on Wednesday 16% of the force.  L.A. officials admit firefighters overwhelmed by firestorms - Los Angeles Times

LA County Police Chief Marrone responded to a question asked by L.A. Times Reporter Grace Toohey about the resources.  "There are 9,000 firefighters in Los Angeles County between the county’s fire department and 29 other fire agencies"   Beginning at the 1:00:23 minute mark

Equipment for any Fire Department are obtained at escalating costs, and it has been revealed by Los Angeles Chief Crowley, in her interview with CNN, 100 trucks (half the city's fleet) were inoperable due to cuts in the maintenance departments including mechanics to repair the trucks.

    • When crews are cleared to move in, the station will start with nine full time positions.
      Once fully staffed, the station will house a tractor-drawn aerial (ladder truck) and 12 full time positions. The aerial was ordered in June 2023 for $2.2 million and the city expects to receive delivery in the fall of 2025.
