Memorial Day Sites Worldwide 2025: May 22nd - May 26th

From May 22 to May 26, 2025, American Battle Monument Commission sites around the world will pay tribute to the more than 200,000 men and women honored overseas. All ceremonies are free to attend and open to the public.    The American Battle Monuments Commission operates and maintains 26 cemeteries and 31 federal memorials, monuments and commemorative plaques in 17 countries throughout the world, including the United States. Highlights of events

    • The Dutch Remembrance Day is May 4th. About Netherlands American Cemetery - American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC).  "Unique to the cemetery is the connection with the Dutch people. Since 1945 members of the local community have adopted the grave sites of our fallen. They bring flowers to the cemetery and research the life of the service member as a way to honor their sacrifice."
    • Corozal American Cemetery - Monday 26 May 2025 9 a.m. Buried at the Corozal American Cemetery are American servicemen who served during the Mexican – American War, the Civil War, World War I, World War II, and all other major conflicts.     • While not an American Battle Monument Commission site Branch 25 of the Royal Canadian Legion (representing the San Francisco Bay Area) host a service to honour Memorial Day in the United States.   May 24, 2025 at 11:00 am – 12:00pm  
      The service is usually held on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, depending on the availability of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) Arkansas Division (who support all of our services).       • The World War II East Coast Memorial is located in Battery Park, New York City. This memorial commemorates those soldiers, sailors, Marines, coast guardsmen, merchant mariners and airmen who met their deaths in the service of their country in the western waters of the Atlantic Ocean during World War II. Its axis is oriented on the Statue of Liberty. On each side of the axis are four gray granite pylons upon which are inscribed the name, rank, organization, and state of each of the over 4,600 missing in the waters of the Atlantic.
