Natural Products Expo West Returns: Anaheim Convention Center March 8-12, 2022

Excited attendees and exhibitors are making final preparations to attend the ExpoWest Natural Health trade show.  The show originated in 1981, with 3000 attendees. Whole Foods was not the major health food store in America, nor were most traditional grocery stores allocating much real estate to "natural" foods.   It would be 12 years later when the standard for health food stores "Goochable" and her  Mrs. Gooch's stores were bought out by Whole Foods. And it was not until 2017 when Whole Foods was acquired by Amazon. But in between those two demarcations, thousands of new products were introduced at ExpoWest, with their owners hoping to gain shelf space by retailers or acquisition by a national brand.

The attendees of ExpoWest are buyers, health promoters, media, bloggers, chiropractors, dreamers with a hope of gaining knowledge to introduce a product, international manufacturers, business investors, and staff of exhibitors.   Consumers are generally not qualified to attend but even the most eligible attendee is awestruck with the magnitude of products, exhibitors, international participation,  and knowledge available.

Today the show attracts over 85,000 attendees, over 400 exhibitors, and garners international media attention; all eager to demonstrate their passion for healthy foods.  It is the largest trade show event at the Anaheim complex.  The emergency, precautionary cancellation of the show in 2020 heralded the major impact Covid-19 would have on life, commerce, and tourism for the city; but conversely the show organizers foresight prevented a wider spread of the disease emanating from attendance; especially considering the vast number of people there from countless international and domestic starting points, and at that juncture no one had any idea of what was ahead.

"According to New Hope Network’s Nutrition Business Journal, the natural and organic industry is forecast to surpass $300 billion in sales by 2023 and $400 billion by 2030"
