Families who wanted to enjoy an outdoor activity which incorporated the participation and education for the youngest and oldest members, soon recognized how much the Southern California climate enabled a very successful effort if they planted those varieties adaptable to our generous sunshine.
Local garden centers experienced a surge of business as old customers dusted off tools and new customers learned a new appreciation for their backyard or even patio.

Meanwhile, other people realized there was produce, fruit, herbs, and flowers available at the farmer's market, locally grown, which surpassed their best (or failed) efforts.
