The Crouch Family Square - Pacoima

Legendary gospel performer, songwriter and choir director, Andre Crouch, passed away in January 2015 following a heart attack. Born in San Francisco, Crouch wrote his first gospel tune at age 14. He is also credited with enabling, developing, and expanding the “Jesus Music” movement from the late 1960s and ’70s that started the spread of contemporary Christian music. In addition to winning Grammy's he is one of a small group of gospel performers recognized for achievements and influence with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Crouch and his twin sister, Sandra Crouch, also a singer,  were pastors at the New Christ Memorial Church in the Los Angeles suburb of Pacoima. She continues to serve at the Church, located at 13333 Vaughn Street in Pacoima. 

Item # 3 of the LA City Council agenda for 4/8/22 concerns CD 7 PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE REPORT relative to designating the intersection at Herrick Avenue and Vaughn Street as "The Crouch Family Square".
