There are 30 in person events on Wednesdays at 13 San Fernando Valley LA City Libraries. There are an additional 5 online/virtual events.

In Person

  • Canoga Park
    • 3 - 6pm Student Zone: After School Study Area and Homework Help Student Zones are after-school homework centers in the library for students in grades K-12.
    • 4  - 5pm Write-In Come and write in the company of others! Any writer knows that working alone can be difficult—the loneliness, the temptation of distractions, and the lack of accountability make it easy to lose motivation
  • Chatsworth
    • 11am  Adult Crafting Wednesday: Mandalas  Learn the ancient art of Mandalas. Mandala means circle of completion and is the process of painting dots in a beautiful pattern on everyday items.
    • 3 - 6pm Student Zone Helper Need help? Ask our experienced tutor who is available to help you with your homework.
    • 3:30 - 5:30pm K-12 Math Help Meet with our Math Help volunteer for help with early math & more advanced math & science including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus & chemistry.
  • Encino-Tarzana
    • 10am Storytime Parents, babies, toddlers, and preschoolers join us for 30 minutes of stories, songs, play and more! This storytime is for children ages 0-5, but children of all ages are welcome to attend.
    • 3pm Homework Help Visit our Student Zone after school where our Homework Helper can offer assistance or supplies.
  • Lake View Terrace 
    • 10:30am Storytime & Playtime Join our children’s librarian for a fun-filled program where we will read stories, sing songs, and dance. Storytime is followed by playtime, a fun and unstructured time to explore, interact,
    • 3:30 - 4:30pm Read to a Dog Visit us to read to Grant, our lovely friend. Practice your reading, cuddling, combing or just enjoying the dog.
  • Mid-Valley Regional
    • 10:30am - 12pm Yoga and Tai Chi With Susan Join us for Yoga and Tai Chi!Please check the calendar to confirm session dates,
    • 3 - 5pm Play Chess! Come join other chess players for some serious fun!
  • North Hollywood Amelia Earhart Regional
    • 10:30 - 11:30am Preschool Story Time Enjoy stories, songs, and movement activities for children and their families. Stay for a fun craft at the end.
    • 11:30am  - 12:30pm STAR Storytime With Patra Our STAR volunteers read to children one-on-one or in small groups. No sign-up is required. Take home a free book to keep after attending three STAR reading sessions at our branch
    • 5pm - 6pm STAR Storytime With Michelle Our STAR volunteers read to children one-on-one or in small groups. No sign-up is required. Take home a free book to keep after attending three STAR reading sessions at our branch
  • Platt 
    • 10:30 - 11am Preschool Storytime Join us for stories, songs, fingerplays and action rhymes.
    • 5 - 6:30pm Conversation Class Join our English Conversation Class to develop your communication, grammar and vocabulary skills.Contact the literacy coordinator for more information: plattliteracy@lapl.org.
  • Sherman Oaks Martin Pollard
    • 4 - 6pm Walk-In Adult Literacy Tutoring Walk-in tutoring is available for any adult patron who needs help with Internet searches, filling out forms, English conversation/reading/writing, job or school resumes
  • Woodland Hills
    • 10:15 - 11:15am Toddler & Preschool Storytime Join us for stories, songs and playtime! This program is for children ages 1 - 5 and their caregivers.
