Tuesday Morning Store Closing Details 2/14/12 press release:
"During the restructuring process, Tuesday Morning plans to focus on optimizing its store footprint and focusing on its core and heritage markets"
263 stores will be closed. There are 37 stores in California of which 31 will be closed, including the only two in the San Fernando Valley: Granada Hills & Woodland Hills. Initial reports indicated only 20 stores would be closed.
There were 230 stores closed in May 2020 in a previous Chapter 11 process. There were 60 locations at that time, of which 17 were closed.
No mention of the closures were presented on their social media sites, at this time.
Tuesday Morning is based in Dallas, Texas. They operated 487 stores in 40 states. According to the website the origin of the name began in 1974 when....
"Tuesday Morning founder Lloyd Ross was working with big-name manufacturers when he had an idea. These big brands always had leftover inventory and nothing to do with it. So Lloyd bought their excess merchandise and decided to host the world’s greatest garage sale in a warehouse in Dallas on a Tuesday morning. Why then? Because he believed it was the first positive part of the week."
Court records indicate "Pursuant to section 341 of the Bankruptcy Code, the Meeting of Creditors has been scheduled for Friday, April 14, 2023 at 10:00 AM CT and will be held telephonically."
