How the AP is able to declare winners in states where polls just closed | AP News
Results are based on AP VoteCast, a comprehensive survey of both voters and nonvoters that determines who voted, how they voted and why.
AP VoteCast, an extensive survey of more than 115,000 voters nationwide. The voting population in America in 2022 according to Statista is 161.42 million people registered to vote in the United States, a 4% decrease from 2020. Therefore, 115,000 is less than .07 percent of registered voters!!
Meanwhile, the California Secretary of State Election Night Results | 2024 Presidential General website has minimal results; while the Los Angeles County Registrar Live Results has no statistics as of 8:06pm . Polls closed at 8:00pm
