Notes from the Fires: Stories of musicians, composers, instrument makers, sound technicians, vocalists, and educators—artists who lost homes, studios, and irreplaceable treasures.

KUSC launched a new weekly series of short radio documentaries, produced and hosted by John Rabe.  The series will follow the journeys of musicians, composers, instrument makers, sound technicians, vocalists, and educators—artists who lost homes, studios, and irreplaceable treasures.

Notes from the Fires tells their stories of resilience, reinvention, and the unbreakable spirit of music.

In the wake of the Palisades and Eaton fires of January 2025, the classical music community was forever changed. We'll follow these musicians and neighbors over the next year, bringing you their stories each Tuesday at 11 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon.
