The Ridge Route Ultra is a fundraiser for the Ridge Route Preservation Organization, working to protect and preserve the 1915 Ridge Route.

ROM THE SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY TO CASTAIC LAKE

Built in 1915, the Old Ridge Route saved California from being split into two states. This historic marvel of engineering ran from Grapevine to Lake Castaic and had 697 turns. It often took travelers over 10 hours. Today, there still are remnants of historic landmarks from over 100 years ago along this significant route.

ALONG THE HISTORIC OLD RIDGE ROUTE

While the original Ridge Route ends its journey as a country road, the Ridge Route Ultra course runs parallel over the beautiful hills and canyons of Castaic Lake and descends to a lakeside finish on well-maintained fire roads. Most of the Old Ridge Route is closed to vehicle traffic, and Castaic Lake’s trails are open to hikers, runners, and cyclists only.

This is a lifetime opportunity to experience Southern California history, self-powered, volunteer-supported, and fully in-tune with beautiful surroundings.

Arrives at Ridge Route Ranch at 6:00am & 6:15am

Post-Race Activities

Invite your friends and family to hang out and picnic at Castaic Lake and cheer on the runners crossing the finish line.

50K Ridge Ultra Registration

Starting at Ridge Route Ranch in Gorman and running all the way to Castaic Lake, the 50K is an 80% road ultra. This net downhill course is on the historic, 100-year old Ridge Route Road - the original Interstate 5. Landmark aid stations locations bring the route alive as runners approach Castaic Lake from above. The final 10k on the park’s dirt roads features clear lake views, rolling grassy fields, and gradual canyon descents.

2-PERSON RELAY Registration

Take on the Ridge Route Ultra 50K as a 2-Person team. The first runner departs Ridge Route Ranch with the 50K solo runners for 20 beautiful miles of isolated mountain road. The second runner waits at the Templin Highway aid station to take on the trails of Castaic Lake and the final, scenic, eight miles

 5-MILE Castaic Trail Run Registration

Hit the trails from Castaic Lake and finish on the 50K route. These canyon fire road are challenging and scenic, featuring long climbs, singletrack sections, rolling descents, and scenic views of the lake and the course. See the highest and most beautiful views in the park and bring it home to a lakeside finish!
