Come discuss the Mayor’s proposed budget with the Neighborhood Council Budget Advocates and officials from City Hall.

  • The Mayor is required by the City Charter to release the Proposed Budget for the next fiscal year by April 20.
  • The City Council must act on that budget by the end of May.
  • The City Council Budget and Finance Committee will hold hearings with each of the City Departments.
  • The Neighborhood Council Budget Advocates will also be invited to address the Committee.

The Budget Advocates are an elected, all volunteer, independent advisory body charged with making constructive recommendations on the City's budget to the Mayor and City Council and inspiring City Departments to improve their operations.

Budget Advocates also solicit stakeholder input on City services, inform Angelenos on the City's fiscal management and report on the City's progress.

Mission:

  • Engage with Neighborhood Councils and stakeholders on the City's financial condition
  • Encourage the City to allocate its resources to improve services and quality of life for all Angelenos
  • Advocate for Los Angeles' true potential as one of the world's leading cities
  • Bring transparency to the City's budget process
