The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors utilized the referendum process to create a bill with "four" distinct aspects. They voted on July 4th to allow the voters to approve the change in how the CEO is chosen, to be elected rather than appointed. Ventura County Board of Supervisors have come under fire for an unwieldy 9-year contract with Dominion Voting Systems. It was approved 10/08/24 with a 3-2 vote, however, eighteen of twenty-five people stood up and voiced their opposition to the contract.
The Board's regular Tuesday meeting allocates a time for the public to offer their opinions. Tuesday, October 29th, twenty-speakers spoke their concerns, angst, and disapproval of the Board for the quick approval of the 9-year extension for the Dominion Voting Systems Contract. The 3:2 vote of approval received objection from Supervisor Jeff Gorell (District 2: Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village) and Supervisor and Vice Chair Janice Parvin (Disrict4: Simi Valley/Moorpark).
