Van Nuys Civic Center is the site for LA City Council meetings the first Friday of every other month. Regular meetings are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Fridays at L.A. City Hall. They have not met since December 13th.

The City Council
- Is the governing body of the city (except as otherwise provided in the Charter)
- Enacts ordinances subject to the approval or veto of the Mayor.
- Orders elections
- Levies taxes
- Authorizes public improvements
- Approves contracts
- Adopts traffic regulations
- Adopts or modifies the budget proposed by the Mayor
- Provides the necessary funds, equipment, and supplies for the budgetary departments.
- Confirms or rejects appointments proposed by the Mayor
- Prescribes duties of boards and officers not defined by Charter
- Rules are procedural.
- Adopted, pursuant to authority set forth in Charter Section 242
- Assist the City Council in the orderly conduct of City business consistent with law.
The City Council and its committees have 7 meetings scheduled this week, but all have been either cancelled or postponed due to recess. Note the City Council has been in recess since December 14th 2022.
