Sepulveda Basin Fires: SFV Audubon Chapter Gifts LAFD Equipment!

Image

The SFV Audubon Chapter & LAFD Foundation presented a new QTAC fire skid unit to LAFD Station #88. The 8/11/25 gift is vital for Station 88, responsible for the Sepulveda Basin.

The Sepulveda Wildlife Reserve and the Basin surrounding it is THE major natural area in the San Fernando Valley, but it is constantly set on fire by homeless, vandals, etc. LA Fire Department is one City Department that responds to this emergency, and SFV Audubon decided to honor their commitment and courage by stepping up to funding this vital piece of fire fighting equipment.

The SKID UNIT packs the power of a complete fire truck in the back of a pickup, allowing firefighters to maneuver in tight spots and respond quickly to fires.

SFV Audubon contributed the basic funds, and LAFD Foundation added another $8,000 to get the right stuff. SFV Audubon salutes LAFD Station 88 for sharing our values and fighting for the Wildlife Reserve and the homes surrounding it. The presentation was 8/11/25

Previously we were told by the SFV Audubon Society

"SFVAS asked LAFD #88 what they needed most to keep fires in check in the Basin. They said, the SKID UNIT. So we asked how much, they told us ($15k+) and we wrote the check. By the time the thing got ordered, it cost more so LAFD Foundation came up with the difference."
