NEW FIREFIGHTING EQUIPMENT for LAFD#88! San Fernando Valley Audubon Society is pleased to donate a FIRE SKID UNIT to Station#88 for their continued dedication to fighting fires in the Sepulveda Basin.   Events for August 2025 – San Fernando Valley Audubon Society

The Skid Unit, a self-contained firefighting system that can be loaded into a pickup or a trailer, is designed to quickly deploy in hard to access areas around the Basin.

"We are donating the SKID Unit to show our support for an LA City Department that shares our values", stated Katheryn Barton, President of the SFV Audubon Society.

"SFVAS asked LAFD #88 what they needed most to keep fires in check in the Basin. They said, the SKID UNIT. So we asked how much, they told us ($15k+) and we wrote the check. By the time the thing got ordered, it cost more so LAFD Foundation came up with the difference."

The  new fire skid unit  will have 200 gallon water capacity and 200' hose, high pressure pump.
