The $45+ billion pizza industry is over 100 years old. But interest in new recipes, new offerings (gluten free, dairy free, meatless) and new restaurants nationally continues to grow!
The not-so-trivial but rather unique information concerning pizza in America includes:
- Lombardi’s in New York City started selling pizza in 1905, originally within the grocery store.
- Their website is NOT Lomardi's but rather OrderFirstPizza
- And they know people who visit will want it shipped to them. WE SHIP ON GOLD BELLY
Enjoy Lombardi's anywhere! - There is some contention about Lombardi's because they closed between 1977-1987
- Soon other east coast cities were also selling pizza:
- Frank Pepe - Pizzeria Napoletana established 1925 New Haven, CT now has seven locations in Connecticut serving their "World Famous Coal Fired Pizza"
- Trenton, NJ.
- Papa's Tomato Pies on Chambers
- There is a Pizza Museum in Chicago U.S. Pizza Museum – It belongs in a museum. (uspizzamuseum.com) although it seems to have become inactive after 2020.

- If you think the taste of Pizza is out of this world you would be right. 2013 Nasa funded a 3d printer to make food, including pizza, for the astronauts on long-duration space missions.

- Barone's Pizzeria 1945 - originally in Sherman Oaks but they are now in Woodland Hills.
