While national media reports and commentaries related to border incidents highlight the rehousing of people who have crossed the border in various methods and are now receiving access to relocation resources; the issues of drugs, human trafficking, and illegal commerce is worthy of equal attention.

The Jan- Apr 2023 statistics do not detail Canada/Alaska boundary protection but therefore the dramatic enforcement encounters is closely consistent inconsistent with the 25%/52% milage difference of the Northern & Southern state borders.

There are 300 ports of entry across the 7,458 miles of U.S. borders.  U.S. Southern border is 1,933 miles long, while across all northern states(conterminous) it is 3,987 miles.  The Canada/Alaska boundary is 1,538 miles across. Lengths of United States Boundaries | U.S. Geological Survey (usgs.gov).

The agency delegated with guarding the border is the U.S. Customs & Border Protection.  The press releases the week included:
