Candace of Candy's Quiltworks

An email message announced the passing of Candy's Quiltworks owner, Candace Lee. She had owned the very popular store on Reseda Blvd. for over a decade.

Candy's Quiltworks has never had a large presence on social media, but the loyalty of customers transcended anything e-commerce & e-marketing could ever deliver.

Descriptions of the store always included a kind reference to the owner, there really is a Candy! Her generosity to local sewing and quilting charities was never touted in the store but well known and helpful.   The San Fernando Quilt Association acknowledged her as a supporter. Quilters for Others - San Fernando Valley Quilt Association (sfvqa.net)

Regular shoppers appreciated her experience and laughter. While she remained posted at her desk, near the parking lot entrance, she had a keen accounting of customers, conversations, and even inquiries about projects.

Some of the online comments about the store:

"These ladies are awesome to work with! The store is FILLED with every type of fabric. It's a main-stay visit every time I am in L.A"  Manta

"Candy’s has over 10,000 bolts of fabric, at least according to one of the clerks. I believe it. Their entire front wall and one side was filled with bolts of batiks. One entire side wall was tone on tone fabrics. The middle was filled with different lines of fabric, mostly together, as well as an aisle of blacks on whites and whites on blacks....I may not have seen this much fabric in one place in California ever. And one generous person even posted a video from their visit.
