The connection of the Los Angeles music world to Richard M. Sherman, and his brother Robert B. Sherman is far reaching - beyond the familiar and quickly hummed upon hearing tunes and lyrics of the Disney pictures. That connection was further detailed as
"Maestro Gary S. Greene has known Richard Sherman for more than 60 years. In fact, 60 years ago, the Sherman Brothers gave the world premiere of the song "It's A Small World" at a Jr. Philharmonic Orchestra concert (of which Greene was concertmaster and his uncle Ernst Katz was founder-conductor).
Richard Sherman has conducted the LA Lawyers Philharmonic in his music on several occasions. In 2014, Greene presented him with Honorary Membership. And, in 2016, the LA Lawyers Phil honored him at Walt Disney Concert Hall and performed so much of his famous music.
A Facebook page "SHERMAN BROTHERS" is maintained by the nephew of Richard M. Sherman, youngest son of Robert who passed in England in 2012 at the age of 86 years. Robert J. Sherman describes the brothers as
"The Academy Award™ and Grammy Award™ winning team responsible for writing more motion picture musical song scores than any other songwriters in history."
