The Peculiarities of "National-Day-of" Designations

"National Day of..." seems to have exponentially grown for any day's designations, often escalated by marketing executives. Then there are some peculiar notations concerning date.

Executed Today is a daily chronicle — each day the story of an historical execution that took place on this date, and the story behind it.

While focusing on public executions may not be your forte; there is another focus, in the area crime, which a good person began when only 19: The Charley Project

The Charley Project profiles over 16,000 “cold case” missing people mainly from the United States. It does not actively investigate cases; it is merely a publicity vehicle for missing people who are often neglected by the press and forgotten all too soon. A person must have been missing for at least one year to be listed;

"Meaghan Good ...had no personal experience with having a missing loved one, but became interested in missing people in 1998 or thereabouts through a chain of events she cannot quite remember now. Her interest led to her friendship with Jennifer Marra, the founder of the Missing Persons Cold Case Network (MPCCN), the Charley Project’s predecessor. That story can be seen here. Meaghan founded the Charley Project on October 12, 2004, a week after her nineteenth birthday."
