English Regency Dancing in Simi Valley (Think Bridgerton)

Image

If Bridgerton et al characters, communicating love interests on the ballroom floor, piqued your interest in Regency-era dancing then come to Simi 8/14, it's not a masquerade dance.

Fans of the series "Bridgerton" have been clamoring for English Regency era dance lessons, and they're happening close by in Simi Valley.

Join fellow artists of the ballroom on the third Thursday evenings at the Rancho Santa Susana Recreation Center.

Dance mistress Laura Beraha whisks you through time travel to the balls and assemblies of the era of Jane Austen. We walk to patterns to the music of Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, and traditional tunes.  "Aristocratic English Country Dancing 1985-1825 in Jane Austen’s footsteps."

  • As these dances were social mixers, you'll always have a partner
  • No prior experience is required.
  • Neither is fancy dress required
    • If you want the full experience, and already own period clothing
    • Your costume will be very much admired.
  • Just $10 for three hours of dance instructions
  • Light refreshments are provided. But bring your own water.

Dr. Laura. Beraha is the founding artistic director of the Bay Area and Valley Area English Regency Societies. She discovered English Regency Dancing in 1981, and has been teaching it since 1984. It has the flavor of the English Regency period with its smooth-flowing elegance. The people who attend also have nice manners, and it really is an oasis from the stresses of modern life. More information is available from Dr. Laura Beraha at KFreasStudio@earthlink.net.
