Approximately 97% of the city's fire budget is allocated towards personnel costs, leaving just 3% to cover all other life-safety costs.

Did you know that firefighters spend more than a third of their lives at the fire station?

“We’re so used to making it work,” LAFD Captain Benjamin Fazeli says of how firefighters pull from their own funds to address the conditions at their fire stations."

Support Your LAFD This Holiday Season

The LAFD Foundation’s Adopt-A-Fire-Station (AAFS) program helps address urgent needs for local LAFD fire stations. Support for the AAFS program helps ensure that the LAFD Foundation can equip every LAFD firefighter and improve their living and working conditions.

Donate today to support the 48% of LAFD fire stations that are underserved. Firefighters’ ability to serve their community at the highest level should not be impacted by their community’s resources.

Your gift today could support the purchase of:

• Hand weights for one station to maintain mental and physical health ($150).

• Station tools that will help firefighters address minor maintenance needs ($350).

• A new, up-to-date washer/dryer to keep firefighters’ gear and uniforms clean ($1,000).

This season, donate to check off your LAFD firefighters’ holiday wish list items. Every contribution will have a direct and meaningful impact on our Los Angeles firefighters.

While the City covers many essentials, items like fitness equipment, appliances, and other station necessities often fall outside the scope of their funding.

If you could contribute, which items would you give to improve the daily lives of your LAFD firefighters?

Community support helps ensure that our firefighters have the best possible living and working environment. This holiday season, let’s make their wishlists a reality and give them something extra to be grateful for.

The Foundation supports each of the LAFD’s 3,500 firefighters by providing important tools and equipment. In some cases, this means replacing dated equipment with newer, better solutions. Examples include lightweight brush helmets, carcinogen-containment gear bags, powerful flashlights, and durable hydration backpacks
