The impromptu outpouring of generosity by food vendors at the Rose Bowl at the onset of the evacuation from Altadena, allowed many people to process the shock and "going-forward". As the news media reported the outpouring of evacuees more donations began to come, water, games, books, clothing....an abundance of clothing. But another story is emerging.
When the timeline ended for distribution, the next question became ...what to do with all the donations... and so Trashee was contacted. "Get rewarded for recycling your clothes (and more) with the Take Back Bag"
Trashee posted on Instagram, while processing the excess clothing donations came a revelation: a surprising amount of the donations were unusable. They posted a comment:
"If you wouldn’t want to receive it, don’t donate it."
With the help of about 100 amazing volunteers, we packed up 40,000 lbs of excess donated clothing—enough to fill a 53’ semi from floor to ceiling! These clothes are on their way to be responsibly recycled.♻️💪

June 10th - Friday night Collections were redirected, around noon Friday, to Parsons Corporation office at 100 W. Walnut St., and then everything was packed up and moved to Santa Anita Race Track.
