The U.S. National Science Foundation Regional Innovation Engines (NSF Engines) program creates regional-scale, technology-driven, inclusive innovation ecosystems throughout the United States by accelerating key technologies, addressing regional, national, societal, and/or geostrategic challenges, driving economic growth, creating and retaining quality jobs, expanding equitable pathways into careers, and strengthening national competitiveness and security. With the potential for each NSF Engine to receive up to $160 million for up to 10+ years, the program supports the development of regional coalitions, across academia, industry, nonprofits, government, and communities, to engage in use-inspired research, translation of research results to society, and workforce development. The mission of an NSF Engine must be clearly rooted in regional interests and reflect the aspiration that a regional innovation ecosystem can help build strong communities where all residents can thrive.

The NSF Engines program uniquely harnesses the nation’s geography of innovation, unleashing a new era of innovation and U.S. competitiveness. Learn more about the NSF Engines program at https://new.nsf.gov/funding/initiatives/regional-innovation-engines.

REGISTER FOR A ROADSHOW

NSF encourages organizations from industry, academia, government, nonprofits, tribal, state and local governments, startups, venture capital firms, and communities of practice to form regional coalitions and submit proposals.

If you already have a cross-sector team that you plan to apply with for an NSF Engines award, we recommend inviting multiple team members with unique expertise areas, especially those from different organization types, to attend.

Please do not RSVP for more than 1-2 roadshow sessions (maximum 2). We want all interested community members to have the opportunity to attend. All sessions are open to the public so attend the session that works best for your schedule!

NOTE: While we encourage attendees from the listed states to join the roadshow listed for their state, please do not read these state selections as a definition of potential regions. Each proposing team will determine their own region of service when applying. Learn more by reviewing the Region of Service information online.

Have a question about the NSF Engines program? Prior to the event, you can submit questions to be addressed during the Q&A by emailing engines@nsf.gov. There will also be the option to ask questions live during the event.

Live captioning will be provided for the webinar. For other disability accommodations, please email engines@nsf.gov as soon as possible, but no later than May 1, 2024, for the first event.
