Two years have passed since an ISIS-K suicide bomber near the Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) Abbey Gate was set off while Afghanistan citizens and expats were evacuating. The number of Afghan citizens reported, by the media, to have been killed by the bomb still varies from 60 to 170; in addition to 3 confirmed foreign nationals: two British citizens and the child of a British citizen. An additional 160 people were injured as well as 18 US service members.
There is no dispute on the number ofAmerican service members who were killed while they were helping people evacuate from Afghanistan:
