According to the U.S. Census Bureau the population of the City of Los Angeles is as of April 1, 2020: 3,898,747.  Other sources suggest the San Fernando Valley population is 1,826,028, 46% of the total Los Angeles population!

The 1984 Olympics, in Los Angeles, included the first Women's Marathon as an Olympic event. The race was won by 27 year old Joan Benoit of Maine, who went on to win the Chicago Marathon in 1985 and held the American record (2:21:21 ) for running a marathon by a woman  for 18 years. The route of the 1984 Olympics included running through the Marina Freeway CA 90!
