The east San Fernando Valley has seen less development of horse property than the western communities of Bell Canyon, Calabasas, Topanga and Malibu. The land adjacent and deep into the Verdugo mountains has many traditional horse ranches, including, Sunland-Tujunga, Sun Valley, La Crescenta-Montrose and Shadow Hills. It is these areas where there is a prevalence of horse related events, farms, and therapy sites.
- Far West Farms - Calabasas
- Closed in December 2023. "As most of you know, the property has been for sale for many years. Our original dream and goal was for Far West Farms to remain an equestrian facility; however, after tremendous time, energy, and effort, it did not transpire.Fortunately, another plan evolved, and I am pleased to announce that the property is now sold to an entity, bringing forth a most beautiful contribution to the community. The land will continue to provide joy and happiness to many. We will leave it to the Buyers to share the good news of their intentions and vision. We are in the process of rehoming our horses and ponies to only the best of homes. Our older horses and ponies are planning for retirement to enjoy all they deserve and a big grassy field."
