Big news! The Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival is back under a new name: the Blue Note Jazz Festival. As part of the new partnership between the LA Phil and Blue Note Jazz Club, the festival will feature the best in jazz and more. Full lineup will be revealed on February 18. The festival was established by Hugh Hefner in Chicago as a one-time event in 1959. It returned in 1979, as the Playboy Jazz Festival, as a one-week event at the Hollywood Bowl. The festival was cancelled in 2020, due to government restrictions during the increased Covid-19 diagnosis'. It was renamed in November 2021 as the Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival, with the first event held for one day on June 25, 2022.
The Blue Note Jazz Club is from Greenwich, NY and will opening a location in Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard in March 2025! They are also located in Napa, Hawaii, Tokyo, Italy, China and Brazil. The new location will have two show areas, one with a capacity of 200 people and the other accommodating 100 people.
