Sept 27th 2024 - LA Sheriff’s Department opens its first Real-Time Watch Center at the Lost Hills station in Agoura Hills.

It is suggested Los Angeles Police Department would have its first call center within three months at Central Los Angeles, Hollywood and Van Nuys divisions. The goal is to supply each of the 21 divisions with a camera.

September 2024 LAPD published details of their progress  Los Angeles Unveils Real Time Crime Centers, Aimed At Helping Officers Rushing To Scenes | Los Angeles Police Protective League

The process includes:

  • Registration of privately owned and positioned surveillance cameras
    • The program would allow retention of ownership of all video from their equipment.
    • Police would have access to see any relatable video, after a crime is reported, and provide it to responding officers immediately.
    • Real-Time Crime Center in each of it's 21 divisions, Moore said, but will start with them in just three divisions: the Downtown Corridor, Hollywood and Van Nuys.

December 2023 (18 months ago) the discussion concerning RTCC included a suggestion the timeline for surveillance cameras was imminent.

  1. Accessing private surveillance cameras -- with permission -- from owners
  2. Merging those feeds with public security cameras
  3. Creating video networks that the agency says will help crack down on crime.
