84 SFV Historical Sites of 1200 Designated by City of L.A.

There are 1200 historical designated sites & buildings in Los Angeles, of which 84 are located in the San Fernando Valley (excluding Calabasas, San Fernando and Burbank)

Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monuments (HCMs) are mapped,  for those wanting to visit, on the 
 Los Angeles City Planning website.  A separate list exists for California State designated sites as well as National Sites.

They are listed on 38 website pages. There are 14 maps relating to the San Fernando Valley. (excluding the cities of Calabasas, San Fernando and Burbank) They are listed below from north/west to south/east:

  • Chatsworth - Porter Ranch 11 sites  
  • Canoga Park - Winnetka - Woodland Hills - West Hills  14 sites
  • Encino - Tarzana 2 sites of which one an Oak Tree was demolished in 1997
  • Reseda - West Van Nuys 2 sites of which one the Pacific Electric Picover Railway Station a fire destroyed and it was demolished in 1990. 
  • Northridge  3 sites  
  • Granada Hills- Knollwood 4 sites 
  • Sherman Oaks - Studio City - Toluca Lake - Cahuenga Pass 21 sites
  • Van Nuys - North Sherman Oaks 8 sites of which the Tower of Pallets was demolished in 2006
  • Sylmar 3 sites
  • Mission Hills - North Hills - Panorama City - 4 sites
  • Arleta - Pacoima -  0 sites
  • Sunland - Tujunga - Lake View Terrace - Shadow Hills - East La Tuna Canyon 9 sites 
  • Sun Valley - La Tuna Canyon 3 sites
  • North Hollywood - Valley Village  8 sites
